I've researched and written extensively on period gardens, whether for
cottage or castle, and everything in between. I've also grown a vast
range of 'period' plants, from Elizabethan gems to 19th
century 'bedders'. I've also restored and replanted kitchen gardens (my
own, and others) so that they have produced everything from artichokes
and lettuces to melons, apricots and musk strawberries. I've also
experienced the problems of trying to do too much (and have sometimes
had to restrain clients from building gardens that they could never
hope to maintain).
